The Hotel Kununurra is seeking a new Head Chef to run this busy & exciting kitchen!

The Position:

Hotel Kununurra is seeking an energetic and proactive Head Chef to lead our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis. You will be motivated, driven, embrace your career with passion, creativity, professionalism and commitment.

Our kitchen provides meals for our public bar and beer garden, in-house restaurant and hotel with 45 rooms.

The Successful Candidate:

The successful applicant will need to have previous experience in a high-volume establishment. You will possess the ability to motivate, excite & train/mentor an enthusiastic kitchen team whilst maintaining & contributing to the continuous improvements of the kitchen.

Our restaurant would suit an a la carte chef and hosts 2 different menus and breakfast all year round. The kitchen demand is indicative of the seasonal nature of trade in the Kimberley, so flexibility to manage budgets during this time is highly essential. In addition to this the successful candidate will:

• Oversee menu costing and design with our Operations Manager
• Take a hands-on leadership & mentioning role
• Deliver a quality food selection for our a la carte hotel restaurant for hotel guests and the community
• Indicative 70/30 split of hours required on-shift and in administrative functions
• Most of the hotel staff live on site so our workplace has a great professional and social culture

Who we are looking for:

The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team as well on their own and have previous experience in the hospitality industry. To be considered for this position you should possess the following attributes:

• The ability to oversee change management of company-developed admin and reporting processes in the kitchen department
• Be proficient with the costing of food, management of wastage, rostering and menu engineering
• Have head chef and/or sous chef experience
• Hold or be able to obtain a current Police Clearance
• Have excellent work ethic
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Availability:

On offer, we have one permanent, full-time role we are looking for candidates who are available to work a full roster, including weekends and public holidays. A competitive salary is on offer (depending on experience) plus superannuation with free single quarters accommodation and meals provided. Access to hotel amenities and discounted stays at our sister properties in Broome and Halls Creek.
