We are currently sourcing an experienced Data Migration Lead to work with a QLD Govt Department. This is a three-month contract with extension possible. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all aspects of data migration within the Program. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and Business Partners to ensure seamless transfer of data between systems, while maintaining data integrity and security. You will lead the development of migration strategies, manage project timelines, and ensure that all data migration activities align with organisational goals.
Key tasks / responsibilities:
- Lead data migration projects from inception to completion
- Manage the end-to-end data migration process, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) into the new system, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
- Develop comprehensive data migration strategies that address both technical and business requirements, including risk assessment and mitigation plans.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including Data Architects, Integration Leads, Project Managers, and department leadership, to gather data requirements
- Establish and implement data quality standards, conducting data quality checks and validation and testing to ensure that migrated data meets high standards of accuracy
- Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, including data mappings, transformation rules, and validation procedures. Provide regular status updates to the Project Control Group and other key stakeholders.
- Provide training and support to end-users and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition
Capabilities / Necessary attributes
- The ability to analyse complex data sets and workflows.
- Experience in data migration projects, including planning, executing, and managing complex data migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the migration process.
- Proven ability to establish and manage data quality controls
- The ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data migration or data management, with a proven track record of successful migrations in complex environments.
- Proficiency in data migration tools, ETL processes, and database management systems; strong understanding of data governance and security practices.
Although a hybrid position, you will be required to work in the Brisbane office 3 days per week so ideally you will be based in Brisbane or looking to relocate. If you are interested, please apply online now for the attention of Rachel Viney.
