About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Officer with expertise in Accounts Payable to join our dynamic finance team. This role is primarily responsible for Accounts Payable functions, with additional duties in supporting the team by being the Payroll backup and assisting the Company Accountant and Manager with general ledger reconciliations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Credit card reconciliations and payments.
- Cost control reporting and ensuring compliance with company governance and compliance policies in relation to accounting and cost management.
Payroll Backup:
- Provide back up for payroll in the case the Company Accountant is unavailable to complete payroll.
- This will include confidential, accurate and timely processing of timesheet information into MYOB payroll system and liaise with HR and the Departmental Manager to ensure that all information is compliant.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist the Company Accountant with general ledger reconciliations and reporting.
- Support the finance team in audits and compliance checks.
- Ad hoc reporting as directed by the Company Accountant or Departmental Manager
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable, with exposure to Payroll.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Experience using accounting and payroll software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or similar). Simpro experience desirable but not essential.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Accounts or a related field.
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in accounts payable and payroll
Essential Criteria
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia, including Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work visa. Sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates who do not meet these requirements need not apply.
