Bilingual Childrens Services Officer
- Maximum Term Contract - Part Time - 3 days per week (22.8 hours pw) until 31 October 2025
- Salary: $80,680 pa (pro-rata) + super
- Location: Ringwood - some local travel required
Your Role
Maroondah City Council has a unique opportunity to work closely with our refugee community and make a meaningful difference for families and children.
The Bilingual Childrens Services Officer will be responsible for actively engaging with culturally diverse families and children and facilitating their access to quality early childhood education, school and other support services. With Maroondah’s high percentage of humanitarian new settler arrivals and a significant number of those coming from Burma, this role will have a strong emphasis on working with the growing refugee population to support inclusion and successful transition to kindergarten and school as well as community events and programs.

About You!
To be the successful applicant you must -
- Have demonstrated experience working with children and families
- Fluency in a language other than English (a Burmese dialect is desirable)
- Self-starter with high personal drive and a positive attitude
- An understanding of refugee communities including cultural diversity, beliefs, values and needs of a culturally and linguistically diverse community
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in written form to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

About Maroondah City Council
Maroondah City Council was constituted as a new municipality on 15 December 1994. The City of Maroondah is made up of three wards, with each ward represented by three Councillors.
Council elections were held in November 2012 and the new Council will remain in office until the next election in 2016. Councillors elect the Mayor each year to serve as the principal ambassador for the City.
