About the role
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing all technical engineering aspects related to the design, implementation, and operation of digital grid solutions to enhance outage management, optimise network operations, and enable efficient two-way energy flows. This position focuses on providing technical advice and expertise in power engineering to develop innovative technology solutions to address complex challenges in network operations during the energy transition.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the technical engineering aspects in the development and implementation of strategic digital grid initiatives and projects to enhance outage management, optimise network operations, and enable efficient two-way energy flows.
- Develop strategies to harness technology to solve complex network operation challenges and optimise business processes through automation.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and technology advancements to identify opportunities for innovation. Support the development of business cases for these opportunities using a data-driven approach and factual evidence to substantiate the potential benefits and value.
- Embrace customer-centric mindset in the delivery of technologies and capabilities to meet shifting expectations and create new value propositions.
- Provide exceptional technical advice through in-depth technical analysis and thorough research to empower informed decision making.
- Lead the creation of technical /contract specifications, standards, procedures, inspection plans and training materials for digital grid systems.
- Engage, influence, and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure the successful adoption of new technology solutions.
- Cultivate a positive learning environment by actively training, mentoring, and coaching team members while sharing technical knowledge across the organisation and the broader industry.
- Integrate global best practices in solution design, business processes, project execution, and operations while making commercially sound business decisions.
- Identify specific data requirements for implementing digital grid systems and support development of relevant data and model management standards and processes.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure that solutions meet or exceed stability, reliability, performance, and security requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry standards, regulations, cybersecurity requirements and best practices to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
Qualifications, Certifications and Licences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in a similar professional role in Energy/Electrical or Utilities Industries.
- Proven business or technical work experience in one or more of the following digital grid focus areas: DMS, EMS, DERMS.
- Experience in transforming data into strategic business projects and insights.
- Significant experience and ability to influence and engage stakeholders to provide innovative strategies and solutions.
