NHOA Energy is a global leader in energy storage solutions, pioneering large-scale grid-connected battery systems. With projects in over 28 countries, we are expanding our Perth team and seeking a Grid Integration Engineer to contribute on the development of Battery Energy Storage System projects in Australia and Oceania. The Grid Integration Engineer is responsible for managing the Grid Interconnection Process of NHOA projects, from Development to Execution, being the primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders.

Your Role:

• Perform independent analyses of steady-state and dynamic performance as well as conducting different types of control modeling and simulation studies of NHOA’s energy storage systems, using industrial power system simulation software.
• Perform grid studies for integration of NHOA’s BESS and other demand/supply sources to identify system impact and required remedies.
• Review performance reports and grid connection package submissions against industry best practices, Grid Code and NHOA’s' contractual requirements from the perspective of grid connection compliance.
• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from sales to commissioning.
• Communicate effectively with clients and technical sales team to support their analytical, equipment design, application and/or compliance needs, and resolving issues promptly.
• Interface with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators in technical power systems discussions and influence our systems design to facilitate scaling on the grid.
• Technical liaison with major stakeholders as AEMO, NSPs, consultants in technical power systems discussions.
• Support the engineering team throughout the grid interconnection process, interfacing with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators in technical power systems discussions as well as engaging with external consultants when needed.
• Monitor Grid Code requisites and their evolution trend, as well as new requirements observed in ongoing offers and execution projects, providing inputs to NHOA R&D offices to keep models always updated with the current State-Of-Art.
• Extensive participation and support towards regional "Must-win" and special projects.
• Represent NHOA in relevant industry working groups and committees.

What you bring:

• MSc in Automation or Electrical engineering, preferably with PhD in Power System Control.
• 3-5 years of experience in this field (PhD duration can be deducted). A minimum of 1-year experience in power system industrial/ consultancy projects is mandatory.
• Experience with the Grid Interconnection process in Australia, with focus on Generator Performance Standards and understanding of Grid Code requirements. Experience in reviewing/conducting engineering studies like stability analysis, harmonic analysis and protection coordination.
• Any experience in negotiation with major stakeholders, such as clients, consultants, contractors, AEMO and TNSPs, is highly valued.
• Knowledge of at least two power system modelling tools: PSCAD/EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT, PSS/E.
• Knowledge of python automation.
• Expertise on control schemes of synchronous generator and inverter-based resources, including familiarity with grid forming operation.
• Fluent knowledge of the English language.
• Permanent work permit in Australia.

Other information

Location: Perth (WA). In accordance with actual project needs, travel might be required. Some short terms trips to HQ in Italy might be required.
