GP Opportunity with a Difference
Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) has a highly rewarding opportunity for a dedicated General Practitioner to join their team in Kutjungka (Balgo, Billiluna, Mulan) WA.
Supporting the remote clinics within the Kutjungka Region (Balgo, Mulan and Billiluna) of WA, you will have the opportunity to work on as a:
- FIFO basis (working 4 weeks on, 8 weeks off), living in a modern, furnished unit in the Balgo Community, with return flights to your preferred destination within Australia;
These are hands-on, highly varied roles that will see you working as part of a multidisciplinary remote clinic team to deliver comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander clients and families.
Services are delivered with the "bigger picture" view in mind, and you'll be responsible for spending time providing holistic care to patients within remote clinics and supporting the wider communities, with a small portion of your work also involving emergency medicine.
To be successful, you will be a fully qualified General Practitioner who has, or is eligible for, full registration with AHPRA. Applications are encouraged from both experienced or recently qualified GPs, with significant support structures in place for those who have just finished their vocational training years.
Previous experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities is not essential, providing you are a strong communicator and team player, willing to work within remote Aboriginal communities and able to provide care to patients in a culturally appropriate manner.
Not typical GP clinics, it is imperative that you can work effectively within KAMS's pre-existing structures of governance as part of a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, Health Promotion Workers, and a variety of Allied Health Professionals.
Be Rewarded
These are highly varied and rewarding opportunities to provide a wide variety of vital healthcare services to remote Indigenous communities and help "Close the Gap" in Aboriginal health.

KAMS offers a fantastic work/life balance and you would also have access to the following additional benefits, including:
- Modern fully-furnished accommodation for your time spent out in remote clinics;
- 25% Casual Loading pro rata
- Medical Indemnity provided

About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services
KAMSC (Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS), providing a collective voice for a network of member ACCHS from towns and remote communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established in the Kimberley in 1978, and was followed by the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS, in Kununurra) in 1984. The vision for a unified voice, to provide centralised resources and collective advocacy for the sector, achieved reality in 1986 with the establishment of KAMSC.
