Th​e Fire Safety Officer is responsible for the delivery of a range of regulatory services, approval and assessment processes to ensure that land use and built environments meet the fire safety requirements of FRV/CFA (Fire Rescue Victoria/Country Fire Authority).

The role will represent FRV/CFA in undertaking building and site inspections, reviewing and assessing applications for land use planning applications, building and occupancy permits, dangerous goods applications, and caravan park inspections. They will provide technical advice and input into related fire safety community matters and support the development of fire safety policy.

What you will need to Succeed

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (i.e., town planning, building surveying, fire engineering, public safety or community safety or similar) (desirable)
  • Demonstrated fire safety experience in the building industry
  • Proven experience in Land Use Planning with an understanding of the Victorian Planning Provisions
  • Proven structural environment experience
  • An understanding of operational firefighting and/or emergency services (desirable)
  • Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal)
  • An ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with competing priorities and time frames

FRV’s standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
