The Role
As an ASRA Case Coordinator, you will provide holistic case management and support services to vulnerable individuals and families seeking asylum in Queensland. You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop case management plans, and collaborate with community and government organizations to facilitate access to essential services, education, and community engagement opportunities.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position from March 2025 to 30 June 2025, based in Brisbane, Ipswich, or Logan.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver culturally competent case coordination, including initial assessments and personalized support plans.
- Provide emotional support and apply trauma-informed practices in client interactions.
- Advocate for clients, ensuring access to appropriate services and opportunities for independence.
- Collaborate with volunteers, bicultural workers, and community stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Develop and facilitate group-based activities, information sessions, and community awareness programs.
- Maintain accurate case notes and reporting in the case management system.
- Promote the ASRA program to ensure awareness and access for eligible individuals and families.
Qualifications and Skills required:
- Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Community Services) or Diploma of Community Services (Case Management).
- Experience in case management, psychosocial assessment, and supporting vulnerable clients.
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and National Police Clearance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including cross-cultural communication.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a similar role within the not-for-profit sector, especially with humanitarian entrants and asylum seekers.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
