A new and exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic, highly motivated, experienced Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a full-time, working 5 days per week, maternity leave cover role which will be offered a 6-month contract, commencing end of April 2025. Based in Welshpool and reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for undertaking accounting and reconciliation tasks in an accurate and timely manner, processing AP & AR transactions and provide assistance to the other members of the Finance team as required.

What your role at ASCO will look like:

  • End of month journals
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Weekly bank reconciliations
  • Data entry for Accounts Payable
  • Assist with processing of end of month requirements
  • Processing weekly payment runs
  • Manage credit card statements
  • Review & data entry of AR transactions
  • Review and action of overdue debtors
  • Book flights/accommodation
  • Assist with MEX administration & work orders
  • Provide external auditors with financial information requests
  • Monitor and upkeep of financial information systems

What you can bring to ASCO:

  • Demonstrated experience within the transport and logistics industry
  • Degree qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 years' experience in a junior accounting role
  • Ability to maintain positive work relationships
  • A team player and demonstrate behaviours in line with ASCO’s Values
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • CPA qualified or studying towards it
