  • Part time (0.6FTE - 3 days per week) fixed term role for 1 year at our Brisbane campus, with some hybrid flexibility
  • Provide counselling to ACU Students on the Brisbane campus and nationally via telehealth
  • Contribute to prevention initiatives and activities on the Brisbane campus including delivering information and education sessions relating to mental health
  • Work closely with the Lead Counsellor and counselling colleagues across the 7 campuses to support at risk students identified under the Support For Students Policy

About the role:

Operating within Student Welfare, ACU Counsellors provide a safe and supportive environment so that students can discuss concerns and develop the tools they need to build resilience and achieve their goals. Counsellors are qualified and experienced psychologists, counsellors or social workers who work in an inclusive way. They provide free and confidential counselling, resources and referrals where required to ACU students who may be experiencing personal, mental health, or general wellbeing concerns that are affecting their life or study. The Counselling Service contributes to the overall mission and learning context of the University by raising awareness of and responding to the concerns of students. As a Counsellor, you'll be experienced in student mental health matters, providing counselling to Brisbane students and contributing to prevention initiatives and activities across the counselling service. Working with other staff across the University, you will report to the National Manager Student Welfare with clinical oversight provided by the Lead Counsellor.

What we offer:

  • Total remuneration valued to $134,349 - $150,203 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $113,527 - $126,924 (pro rata) pa (HEW 8), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. A 2.8% increase will be effective from the beginning of the last full pay period before 30 June 2025.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
