An exciting opportunity presents for an enthusiastic person with suitable experience or transferable skills to join the Executive Team in our Strategy and Governance portfolio.
The Governance Officer provides advice and support in relation to legislation, policy development and corporate governance frameworks to ensure Council maintains legislative compliance. Other duties include the management of leases, licences and permits, administration of Council delegations and authorised officer appointments, Council meeting procedures and elected member compliance. Reporting to the Strategy and Governance Coordinator the role also supports the corporate risk and strategic planning functions.
The successful applicant will require excellent administrative skills, demonstrated proficiency in the preparation of high-level documentation, research skills to analyse and interpret information and legislation, and effective communication skills to liaise and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
The role is responsible for providing a high level of specialised advice, support and corporate governance services to Management, and across the organisation. The Governance Officer will also possess strong problem solving and professional judgement, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
