About the role

Join our School Infrastructure Division, committed to delivering new school buildings, upgrades and maintenance to ensure every child has access to high-quality education facilities at their local public school.

As an Assistant Facilities Maintenance Officer, you will support the planning and implementation of facilities maintenance programs across our school sites.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Asset Management regions to ensure the consistent delivery of maintenance services, in line with statutory and legal compliance for maintenance activities, required on NSW school sites
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with the broader School Infrastructure Asset Management teams, principals, and contractors and managing their expectations
  • Analysing key data to prepare progress reports and identify opportunities for new programs and maintenance projects

About you

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A strong understanding of and experience supporting facilities maintenance processes
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and generate insightful reports
  • The ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team
  • Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders and managing their expectations
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Current and valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel across the assigned Asset Management area if required. This is currently on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years)
