An exciting entry level opportunity has arisen to join our passionate Finance Team as the Finance Support Officer - Rates.

Position Overview

This exciting role assists with the maintenance of the Council Rates management systems as well as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Supporting the Senior Finance Officer of Rates the role also ensures the integrity of financial systems and information, whilst delivering on key reporting requirements for the organisation. The successful applicant is required to have effective relationship and communications skills with an important focus on internal and external customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to Senior Rates Officer - Rates, responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assist with the administration of yearly and quarterly rate accounts, including the direct debit applications for payment of rates.
  • Assist with updating property details, including ownership changes.
  • Assist with administration related to debtor management.
  • Apply Council policies and practices relating to customer service and actively contribute to Council and team customer service initiatives.

  • Basic ability to follow documented processes and procedures within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently and under clear general direction.
  • Ability to communicate with all persons with patience, clarity, empathy and understanding

The position is offered as a full time, ongoing contract at General Officer Level 2 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $68,902 to $75,091 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
