About the role
This role is part of the WorkSafe General Industries division which is dedicated to ensuring the safety of the Western Australian community. The Division is responsible for enforcing the WHS laws across a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, onshore oil and gas, transport, warehousing and retail etc. As a Senior Inspector Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the workplace safety by enforcing Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 and WHS (General) Regulations 2022. You will be conducting inspections and investigating complex incidents involving plant and engineering.
The role:
- Carry out workplace inspections and take enforcement action when health and safety laws are breached.
- Investigate more complex, sensitive and/or controversial workplace incidents and accidents involving plant and engineering.
- Respond to requests for complex regulatory and technical information about plant and engineering, Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and relevant standards.
Essential requirements for this role:
- A substantial working knowledge of plant-related standards and codes.
- Capable of dealing with direct exposure to matters of a sensitive, confronting and potentially emotionally disturbing nature eg. trauma experienced by others.
- Think Through Complexity - You draw on information from an array of sources, applying your judgement and technical expertise to identify what is relevant and important.
