Charles Sturt Campus Services (CSCS) is a controlled entity of Charles Sturt University and employs over 200 staff across regional locations across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory including Albury, Bathurst, Canberra, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie, and Wagga Wagga. CSCS provide services to universities and other commercial businesses. CSCS is engaged to provide a range of services including cleaning of office, research, teaching, recreational and residential spaces, a laundry service, mail delivery, event preparation, testing and tagging services and maintenance services. The Charles Sturt Campus Services team ensures that facilities are clean, safe, and conducive to an outstanding client, student and staff experience.
We are currently seeking a motivated, reliable and effective leader to join our team as Senior Supervisor at the Port Macquarie Campus.
This is a great opportunity, with above award wages, superannuation contributions at 0.5% above Government Superannuation Guarantee (currently paid at 12%), great work life balance and an opportunity to lead a diverse and enthusiastic team.
If you are an early bird, this role will suit you down to the ground! Roster commencing at 6:30am, early starts mean early finishes which enables you to spend time with the kids after school or going to appointments etc. Monday to Friday - set hours - which means you have that down time in the afternoon/evening to spend with your family.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Team Leadership and Staff Engagement
- Lead, inspire, and manage a high-performing team, ensuring tasks are efficiently delegated and staff are motivated to meet operational goals.
- Coordinate casual, and or labour hire assistance as required to successfully fulfil operational requirements.
- There will be times where you will need to open up CSCS facilities, and greet staff as they arrive and ensure attendance times are in accordance with rosters.
- Build strong relationships with the team by actively engaging with staff on a daily basis, providing guidance and support as they carry out their duties.Build strong relationships with the team by actively engaging with staff on a daily basis, providing guidance and support as they carry out their duties.
- Ensure routine and programmed work orders are completed according to company expectations and client service level agreements
- Attend and facilitate regular meetings with staff and direct reports.
- Facilitate and assist in the provision of induction training, on-the-job training and awareness programs.
- Cultivate a workplace environment that thrives on mutual respect, aligning with and promoting the core CSCS Values.
- Be actively involved in the occupational coaching of employees.
Customer Service
- Liaise with the end users as required to form relationships and build a mutual understanding of expectations.
- Actively involved in quality assurance programs including compliments and complaint handling.
- Provide assistance where necessary to ensure rosters are cost effective, set to cover operational requirements and payroll data truly reflects employee claims.
Building, Facilities & Equipment
- Provide a level of direct supervision that ensures the servicing of buildings meet company and client requirements and expectations.
- Actively promote best work practice such as respecting and maintain working areas and equipment in a good and safe condition.
- Manage all buildings and equipment assets in your control to ensure protection from fire, theft, damage and loss.
General Responsibilities (Consist of but not limited to)
- Carry out administration procedures such as work order management, stock take, online purchasing, and data entry as required.
- Assist in the development, documentation and implementation of policy, procedure and awareness programs as required.
- Collate, investigate and report on Quality, WH&S, Environment, Industrial and Operation matters, identifying and highlighting focal points and areas of concern.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of CSU networks, facilities, partnership agreements and software programs as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekend and public holidays
WORK HEALTH & SAFETY:

- Conduct incident investigations as required, and participate in and provide all necessary documentation and support as required for insurance claims management.
- Comply with all WH&S policies, procedures and safe work activities as required
- Participate in risk management activities and safety activities as required by your role or nominated by your manager.
- Work safely and not place yourself at risk, or any other worker or member of the public.
- Conduct workplace quality, safety inspection audits using the appropriate inspection checklist, and implement actions to resolve identified hazards.
JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING:
- At times this position requires the incumbent to use their own judgement to prioritise the workload whilst ensuring that there is minimal impact to the client.
- There are schedules to comply with but the incumbent should be flexible especially where emergency situations arise.
- Effective time management skills.
SPECIALIST SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills are required with the fellow staff members, and customers
- Lead by example and actively participate and promote inclusive work practices and engage staff effectively.
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Effective Leadership including being able to actively promote and participate in quality engagement within the entire organisation, networks and partners
- Engage the workforce by interacting daily with the staff whilst performing their duties.
- The incumbent must ensure that a high standard of cost effective services are carried out using safe work methods
- Timely and accurate data entry and reporting
- Company benchmarks and targets met as directed
- Proficient in decision, mediation and delegation skills

This role requires not only strong communication but also the ability to engage and motivate others, and build professional relationships across different levels of the organisation and the wider community.

The ability to fit into a team and work well within a management structure is an integral component of this role, along with a focus on inclusive leadership principles.
3. Work Health & Safety Compliance:
The importance of understanding and adhering to health and safety standards is critical. CSCS maintains an extremely high level of WHS Compliance and adherence to ISO 450001 accreditations and our successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate a high level approach towards all matters relating to WHS.
4. Time Management & Delegation:
This position requires multitasking, effective time management, and the ability to delegate responsibilities and oversee tasks. Being able to display these skills is an essential requirement of this role.
5. Technology Proficiency:
This role needs someone proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant technologies for efficiency and communication. Your ability to be tech-savvy would put you in good stead.
6. Physical & Medical Requirements:
This role is varied and at times can be quite physically demanding. The ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment is essential.
7. Certifications & Clearances:
The following are essential:
- A drivers licence and
- current working with children check and
- the ability to complete and pass a police background check (CSCS funded) and
- the ability to complete and pass a pre-employment medical assessment (CSCS funded).
DESIRABLE
- Experience or knowledge in general commercial cleaning.
- Experience or knowledge in using various cleaning equipment (commercial and industrial).
- Experience or knowledge in the safe use of chemicals and manual handling procedures
- Certificate IV Frontline Management
- Certificate III or Certificate IV Asset Maintenance
- Senior First Aid
