About Ashton’s Place & Autism Connect Early (ACE)

Ashton’s Place is a not for profit organisation that offers early intervention supports for young autistic children. We have a head office in Currumbin Valley and offer supports for children and their families throughout the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Melbourne. We are a growing organisation, bringing opportunities for career growth and development as the organisation grows.

The ACE programme has been developed by Ashton’s Place, in conjunction with the University of New England. It is a transdisciplinary early intervention program run alongside the kindergarten programme in select early education settings. The programme aims to promote skill development via social connection and relationships, meaningful inclusion and individualised intervention.

About your new role

• Provide specialist early years support for autistic children, along with education and support for their families and educators.
• Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work within a team delivering individual and group interventions.
• Observe, assess and interpret findings to formulate goals. You will collaborate with key stakeholders regarding strategies to achieve them, and deliver face to face therapy.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families and educators to ensure their participation in goal setting, planning, decision making and outcome measurement; and to develop their capacity to provide supports.
• Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of skill acquisition, documentation of programme and therapy participation and NDIS reporting as required.
• Provide direct and indirect therapy interventions.
• Provide mentoring and support to early career occupational therapists.
• Contribute to research on best practice intervention for children with Autism.

A little about you

• Bachelor or higher qualification of Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA.
• Blue Card, First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain.
• Experience working with autistic children or young children (desirable).
• Confidence in building strong relationships and partnerships with children and families.
• Be willing to travel between programme locations (travel remunerated & within work hours).
