We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Family Lawyer to join our team at our Melbourne office on a full-time basis. Hybrid working options are available, and we would also consider a part-time arrangement for the right candidate.
We are seeking a proactive individual with a strong focus on business development (BD) to work closely with the principal lawyer in building and expanding the practice. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the principal to strengthen client relationships, identify new opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the practice.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Build and manage a wide variety of Family Law matters involving parenting, property settlements, spousal maintenance, child support issues, divorce, and binding financial agreements.
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to new and existing clients, offering practical and client-centric solutions.
- Be technically astute and commercially minded with a focus on client outcomes in both negotiations and litigated matters.
- Foster business development by building relationships with trade unions, key referral sources and community organisations.
- Collaborate with senior team members to ensure professional growth and development.
Skills and experience
- A minimum of 2 years of post-admission experience (PAE) in Family Law.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of Family Law legislation, procedures, and court processes.
- Confident and personable, with a genuine dedication to helping clients.
- Strong writing, drafting, negotiating, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.
- The ability to develop strong relationships both internally and externally at all levels.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Results-oriented, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
- Adaptable and amenable to changing priorities.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
