About the Role

As Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research), you will be a key member of the academic staff of Speech Pathology in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The incumbent will contribute to high quality and innovative research, including scholarship, publication, external grant acquisition, mentoring and aiding in the development of early career researchers consistent with the Caring Futures Institute Research Strategy.

The Senior Lecturer will also play a lead role in the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning experiences for students. This may include lectures, tutorials, laboratory-based material, curriculum development or other modes of teaching, such as placement education for topics, primarily within the suite of Speech Pathology topics.

About You

You will be committed to fostering a highly supportive education environment by utilising your exceptional communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills to maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of staff, students, and industry stakeholders.

With a demonstrated and successful track record and significant evidence of relevant teaching experience at tertiary level, you also have experience in the supervision of higher degree students and other post-graduate course work students undertaking research projects.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Completion of a PhD or EdD or equivalent qualification in a health-related field relevant to Speech Pathology or any one of the following:
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed independent research demonstrated to be of an equivalent standard in the discipline area.
  • Evidence of professional standing, reputation and qualifications demonstrated to be of an equivalent standard in the discipline area.
  • Completion of a higher degree at Masters level or substantial progress towards a doctoral degree in the discipline area.
  • Relevant and contemporary experience as a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist in the area of child language and literacy and disability.
  • Evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area of strategic research focus for the Caring Futures Institute, including evidence of sustained high-quality publications with evident senior authorship contribution and attraction of external competitive grants.
  • Hold and maintain a current membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Experience in topic coordination, course coordination and/or curriculum design.
