Our client is seeking a Payroll Employee Relations Specialist to join their team in Sydney CBD. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the analysis and review of payroll data, payslips and other employee records to ensure compliance against relevant legislation and industrial instruments. What you'll do:

As a Payroll Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our client's payroll configuration, compliance, and governance activities meet regulatory obligations. Your strong numeracy and data analysis skills will be key in reviewing payroll data, payslips, and other employee records for compliance against relevant legislation. You will also contribute significantly towards strategic ER projects, working closely with various internal teams. This role requires a proactive approach towards risk management, keeping abreast of changes in the external environment, translating them into the internal environment.

  • Review payroll data, payslips, and other employee records and assess compliance against relevant legislation and industrial instruments.
  • Apply pay-related legislation and industrial instruments to assist in the development and refinement of systems and processes.
  • Lead compliance activities and payroll reviews for Group companies and subsidiaries.
  • Support implementation of changes arising from updates to pay-related legislative and policy changes.
  • Contribute to development of appropriate reporting, including supporting the ER advisory team.
  • Support subsidiary governance activities including development of framework, analysis of payroll issues, and systematising solutions with internal teams.
  • Contribute to strategic ER projects, including leading specified workstreams according to the agreed project delivery method.
  • Work closely with the internal employment law team to escalate as appropriate and obtain legal advice where required.
  • Monitor external trends and the legislative and regulatory environment to ensure a contemporary approach to employee relations and ongoing compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead, Employee Relations Policy & Governance to ensure alignment.

What you bring:

As a Payroll Employee Relations Specialist, you will bring your extensive experience as an HR analyst in a commercial organisation to our client's team. Your expertise in payroll, data analytics and systems configuration will be invaluable in this role. You have a proven track record of interpreting and applying industrial instruments as an Industrial or Employee Relations advisor. Your strong numeracy and analytical skills, coupled with your knowledge of Excel and experience working in an agile environment, make you the ideal candidate for this role. Your ability to influence stakeholders at various organisational levels and your relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee Relations or Law will contribute significantly to your success in this role.

  • Four or more years' experience as an HR/Payroll analyst in a commercial organisation of significant complexity.
  • Experience with payroll, data analytics and systems configuration.
  • Experience interpreting and applying industrial instruments as an Industrial or Employee Relations advisor.
  • Experience in project and change management including cross-functional teams.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, including data analytics and systems logic.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience working in an agile environment, exercising good judgment with incomplete information.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at a range of organisational levels.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications - Degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Law.
