The Opportunity

Reporting to the P&C General Manager, you will provide strategic and expert guidance on employee and industrial relations, managing complex cases and partnering with senior leadership to support organizational culture and people outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on legislation, industrial relations, workplace policies, and procedures to ensure compliance across Youturn.
  • Case manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary issues, grievances, investigations, performance improvement, and workplace disputes.
  • Manage trauma-related ER Cases
  • Partner with senior leaders to deliver operational, tactical, and strategic support in resolving employee relations matters.
  • Lead and manage projects related to employee relations and industrial relations improvements
  • Serve as the primary contact for all Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) matters.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ER strategies
  • Represent the organisation in complex advocacy matters, including industrial disputes and negotiations.
  • Oversee workplace investigations, ensuring fair and timely resolution while developing action plans to address key issues.
  • Support enterprise bargaining and industrial relations negotiations
  • Assist in the management of employment-related litigation, providing strategic advice on risks and resolution pathways.
  • Monitor and advise on organisational change processes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks of industrial disputation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing HR outcomes effectively.

Essential & Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-sensitive approaches in the workplace.
  • Significant experience in ER/IR advisory roles, preferably in a not-for-profit or unionised environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex employee relations matters, including investigations and dispute resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, industrial awards, agreements, and HR best practices.
  • High-level communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, including experience engaging with unions and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support leaders in managing employee relations issues effectively.
  • Proven experience in preparing high-quality reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands, and drive strategic ER initiatives.
  • Experience in developing and implementing ER policies and training programs.
  • Capability in managing workplace change processes, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organisation in industrial tribunals and negotiation settings.

Other Requirements

  • Successful applicants will also need to hold a ‘C’ class Open driver licence, State Working with Children Check and hold, or be eligible to apply for, a Licensed Care Suitability Check issued by the QLD Department of Child Safety, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.
