An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Office of the General Counsel as Senior Legal Adviser-Corporate Legal Team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Office of the General Counsel provides strategic legal and policy advice to the Premier and Ministers supported by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and related agencies.
As part of the Corporate Legal Team and reporting to the Manager, Corporate Legal Team, the Senior Legal Adviser will provide strategic, risk-based legal advice and counsel and will be part of a high performing team.
The Senior Legal Adviser will deliver sensitive legal advice in an in-house environment on corporate and governance, commercial, contracting, procurement and employment matters affecting the department, as well as advice and support to the Premier and Ministers supported by DPC.
We are seeking a hard-working Senior Legal Adviser with outstanding technical, legal and conceptual skills, to join a dedicated team of high performing lawyers in the Corporate Legal Team. You must be admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate. About you
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Significant experience providing technically excellent and strategically focused legal advice, at a senior level, on commercial contracting and other corporate issues.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- A strong commitment to service excellence and assisting clients and stakeholders achieve their organisation's objectives.
- A proven ability to independently and effectively manage competing priorities and deliver results based on incomplete or ambiguous information, under time pressure and with minimal supervision.
- A proven ability to identify, manage and, where appropriate, escalate risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
