Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced & skilled Applied Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role that combines machining, workshop support, and practical engineering work. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in CNC machining and manufacturing processes with Fanuc Controllers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and assist in the setup of CNC machining processes.
- Provide general assistance on the factory floor, including job control, invoicing, and inventory management.
- Assess and analyse labour-intensive components of manufacturing for automation opportunities.
- Evaluate and propose modifications to existing manufacturing systems and workflows.
- Assist in the assessment and integration of new manufacturing technologies (e.g., water cutting, laser cutting).
- Develop user and training documentation for processes and equipment.
- Experiment with automation solutions such as robotic and pneumatic systems.
- Work with 3D CAD/CAM software for customer jobs and in-house projects.
- Design machines, components, and products for manufacturing.
- Develop specifications and select materials required for manufacture.
- Organises and manages project labour and the delivery of materials and equipment.
- Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations
- Inspects plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained.
- Directs the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, and co-ordinating the requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and resolve quality control issues, assisting with metrology improvements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to read and produce technical drawings to Australian Standards.
- Masters in Engineering Management, or equivalent.
- Familiar with, and executes Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining and workshop processes.
- Familiarity with job control, invoicing, and stock management.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate and optimise manufacturing processes.
- Experience with automation technologies or interest in developing automation solutions.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD/CAM software.
- Ability to document and communicate technical processes effectively.
