About This Opportunity

The Senior Business System Analyst undertakes business analysis activities to identify, define and convert business requirements into strategic system designs for large ERP systems at the University of Queensland, considering the wider enterprise applications portfolio. The role is a senior escalation point within the team, supporting other team members in delivering services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Business Analysis and Process Improvement: Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate requirements into system specifications and business cases.
  • Project Management and Technical Leadership: Manage significant IT projects, ensure adherence to policies and change management processes, and provide senior technical advice, mentoring, and escalation support for complex issues.
  • Design, Testing, and Change Management: Prepare high-level design documentation, support testing activities, and assist with training and change management to ensure successful adoption of system or process changes.
  • Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement: Ensure timely resolution of customer issues, promote continuous improvement activities, and maintain expert knowledge of business processes and systems to enhance service delivery.

About You
  • Qualifications and training equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT, business or related field, or significant progress towards such qualifications, and extensive relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in business analysis and requirements gathering across ERP platforms, with the demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and peers to gather requirements, conduct analysis, produce solution designs and prioritise delivery, in accordance with agreed service delivery expectations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to conceptualise, establish and implement new initiatives and innovative solutions within a specified framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to design IT solutions within a large ERP platform, undertaking business process modelling, and data and systems documentation in accordance with industry standards.
  • Experience working within an agile development environment, and with software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Communication and Leadership: Strong written communication skills for clear user and technical specifications, combined with interpersonal skills to mentor, lead, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and provide recommendations on relevant emerging technologies, research, methodologies and best practices and develop and deliver services that utilise best practice and appropriate technology to meet the University's business requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Applications and the Scrum framework is desirable.
