We are looking for a skilled Telecommunications Linesworker to join our team for projects across Tamworth region, NSW. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications infrastructure, including aerial and underground networks. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a skilled team, contributing to critical telecommunications projects across the region.

Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Install telecommunications lines and equipment, including aerial and underground networks for broadband and digital communication.
  • Work on National Broadband Network (NBN) projects, including HFC Copper Joints, FTTC, and optical fibre installations.
  • Install and maintain NBN underground networks, including pits, conduits, and trench remediation work.
  • Read and interpret DBYD (Dial Before You Dig) plans to ensure safe excavation and installation of telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Locate underground assets using potholing techniques and protect live services during excavation.
  • Install, maintain, and repair external telecommunications equipment, including aerial lines, radio devices, and limited terminal equipment.
  • Install and maintain fibre optic telecommunications, including fibre optic cabling for landline phone networks and digital communication systems.
  • Haul internal and external telecommunications cables through underground infrastructure and buildings as required.
  • Install underground utilities, such as communication lines, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Install telecommunications equipment and appliances, such as telephones, switchboards, and data transmission devices.
  • Adjust, replace, and repair faulty telecommunications equipment, testing functionality using electronic instruments.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot data communication networks, ensuring efficient system performance and fault resolution.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for telecommunications installation and maintenance work.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications infrastructure. (Australian Work experience preferred)
  • Qualification required: AQF Certificate III in Telecommunications or a related field.
  • Open Cabler Registration with endorsements for fibre optics and structured cabling (desirable).
  • Valid Working at Heights Certification and ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Strong technical skills in cabling, fault-finding, and troubleshooting using telecom testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and DBYD plans.
  • Experience in fibre optic installation, splicing, and maintenance (preferred).
  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel between work sites.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to industry regulations.
  • Physical fitness to handle manual labour, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
