About the Role

Spartan Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Fitter to join our team in Ormeau, QLD. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining and servicing our diverse fleet, which includes trucks, utes, cars, and mobile cranes.

As a Diesel Fitter at Spartan Group, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our equipment, supporting the smooth operations of our crane and hoist hire services.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and hydraulic systems across a variety of vehicles and machinery.
• Conducting routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance of trucks, mobile cranes, and light vehicles.
• Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Performing engine rebuilds, component overhauls, and system upgrades as needed.
• Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Assisting with breakdowns and emergency repairs, both on-site and in the workshop.
• Collaborating with the operations team to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.

What We’re Looking For

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter/Mechanic or equivalent.
• Proven experience in maintaining heavy vehicles, trucks, and machinery.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, particularly with hydraulic systems and diesel engines.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to industry standards.
• Current manual driver’s license (HR or MR license preferred).
• Flexibility to work occasional overtime or attend to urgent repairs.
• Own basic hand and power tools
