About the Program
CatholicCare NT’s men’s DFV programs include a Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) in Darwin and Wadeye and court support for men who use violence in their relationships in Darwin and Katherine.
The primary purpose of these programs is to keep women and children safe.
The MBCP engages with men who have used violence in their relationships. The purpose of the program is to improve safety for those who have experienced their harm. This is achieved through a structured groupwork program and outreach program for participants. Participants are encouraged to understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility for their violence, and learn non-violent ways of relating to others.
Integral to the focus on women and children’s safety within the program, is the direct support provided to the families (partner, ex-partners, and their children) of the men engaged in the MBCP.
About the Role
The Women’s (Family) Safety Worker is responsible for providing safety and support services to meet the immediate needs of women whose partner/s and/or ex-partners are participants in the Darwin-based MBCP for the program to meet its objectives.
This position has a particular focus on providing case management, support, referral and information to the women affected by their partner’s and/or ex-partner’s violence and includes supporting children as victims in their own right through the (ex) partners.
