Headstart Acquired Brain Injury Services is a specialist service supporting the choices and independence of people with an acquired brain injury (ABI). We are dedicated to supporting individuals with an ABI in enhancing their life skills and community engagement. We are seeking a Roster Coordinator to join our team at the main office located in Hamilton (Newcastle). This is a 6-month fixed-term, full-time position 6am – 2:10pm, reporting directly to our Operations Manager. The Roster Coordinator plays a pivotal role within our organisation, you will collaborate closely with our Care Coordinators, assisting individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and their families. The Care Coordinators are tasked with establishing initial schedules, connecting, and training our support workers. Your role involves seamlessly filling shifts and arranging replacements on a day-to-day basis, often navigating through challenging scenarios to uphold the delivery of high-quality services.
You will take pride in meticulously crafting rosters that are not only efficient but also make the best use of our staff resources. Working closely with the service delivery team, you will ensure the appropriate alignment of staff with Consumers, considering their skills and lifestyle preferences.
Additionally, this position encompasses general administrative duties, and you will actively participate in an on-call rotation, as necessary.

Desired skills and experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in roster coordination or similar administrative role
- Strong understanding of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award
- Familiarity working within a healthcare or disability support setting, particularly with individuals with ABI, is advantageous
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written is essential for effectively coordinating schedules
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are necessary for meticulously crafting rosters and managing day-to-day scheduling tasks
- Ability to navigate through challenging scenarios and make quick, effective decisions to ensure the delivery of high-quality services, including arranging replacements for shifts as required
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- High level of personal responsibility and reliability,
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience using scheduling software/tools to manage rosters (e.g. CimsAbility) is advantageous
- Possession of a current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to drive a service vehicle.
- Cleared Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Proof of your Right to Work in Australia.
