About the role
The position of Manager Environment operates within an environmental management and consulting group within QBuild, primarily to service the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works and other Queensland Government clients, to fulfil Government building projects and programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the overall operations of the Environmental Management discipline in QBuild—to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources, timely reporting, and provision of relevant, practical, expert advice to deliver best environmental outcomes for government projects.
- Prepare high level correspondence including briefing notes, submissions, fee proposals, reports and information papers.
- Deliver environmental planning and management advice and reports to support new government building projects in line with legislative, policy and internal departmental requirements. Undertake environmental studies, reviews and assessments to quantify, mitigate and address environmental risks and/or impacts, associated with Government infrastructure and development, to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
- Prepare and / or manage the delivery of environmental approvals, licences, permits in satisfaction of statutory requirements to support the building and development activities of QBuild.
- Oversee and manage the provision of technical advice to support facility and maintenance management by QBuild for water and wastewater treatment and waste management facilities that may be subject to environmental authority licensing. This includes ensuring QBuild can achieve statutory compliance, maintenance management, and duty-of-care obligations.
- Develop, improve and maintain QBuild's environmental management policies, procedures and systems, to provide governance and assurance oversight to QBuild operations.
- Develop, implement and maintain an environmental compliance governance framework to ensure QBuild operations are compliant. Responsibility includes management for environmental risk and compliance, environmental auditing activities and incident investigations.
- Coordinate environmental training programs and raise environmental management and compliance awareness in QBuild.
- Promote, foster, and maintain effective relationships with other agencies, organisations and stakeholders concerned with the management of environmental issues.
