Hills District Speech Therapy (HDST) is a progressive Private Speech Pathology Clinic in the heart of the Hills.
Our clinic is also currently expanding its adult therapy services! We have an exciting new opportunity for someone to jump into a LEADERSHIP ROLE and take control of their own Adult Speech Clinic within HDST.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality communication, and swallowing intervention to adults. The ideal candidate will work with clients experiencing speech and language disorders due to neurological conditions, stroke, traumatic brain injuries, or degenerative diseases.
You would have your own dedicated clinic space at the beautiful HDST clinic and also offer services within a variety of community settings such as group homes, nursing homes and retirement villages and hospitals. This would be a hybrid clinic and mobile role with opportunities to work from home.
Our Adult Clinic is set up, with all the resources, systems and processes in place; ready for you to jump in and make it your own. There is a great deal of scope and flexibility within this role. We look forward to hearing your ideas and collaborating with you in this role.
A minimum of 3-4 years experience would be required to demonstrate leadership capability. Further training and supervision will be provided on the job as well as external professional development allowance + paid leave for attendance.

We currently consist of a team of Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Assistants and Support Staff (all located at our ‘home’ in Norwest). Our team is comprised of a high ratio of senior supervisors and experienced clinicians, as well junior and new graduate level therapists who recognise the need for a collaborative approach in helping our clients achieve their goals.
Daily administrative support is provided and a culture of compassion, gratitude and life long learning is upheld by all.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, fluency, communication, and swallowing disorders in adults utilising evidence based intervention .
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans based on needs and goals and with client collaboration.
Educate clients and caregivers on communication strategies and swallowing safety.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports.
Provide training and education to staff and service providers to support their clients within group home and nursing home facilities
Engage with the community to maintain and establish new relationships with other service providers.
Grow the adult clinic and team at HDST with the support of the leadership team and work collaboratively on business development plans.
Evaluate and update policy and procedure to ensure continual quality improvement.
Provide supervision and training to junior staff.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor of Speech Pathology (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3-4 years working with an adult population in a clinical, rehabilitation, hospital or home health setting with communication and swallowing disorders.
- Ability to hold SPA membership and CPSP status
