The successful candidate will perform a broad range of pre-analytical and post-analytical processes and operational duties in compliance with policies and procedures to support effective and efficient laboratory service delivery.
Your key responsibilities
Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values (QPS) along with the following accountabilities:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
- Contribute to the QCH laboratory team by working co-operatively and communicating effectively with the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory to ensure the provision of optimum patient care and service delivery.
- Assist with laboratory duties as required, to maintain an effective and efficient pathology service.
- Assist the laboratory services to meet or exceed service delivery KPI.
- Ensure the development of relevant knowledge and expertise by participating in Performance Appraisal Development reviews, active learning, and professional development.
- Undertake specified training as required, in accordance with appropriate guidelines, codes of practice and regulations.
- Contribute to and participate in business initiatives and service improvement activities at a local level.
- Perform all quality duties relating to the role including document control, record keeping and appropriate use of internal quality control systems.
- Contribute to compliance of the Queensland Children's Hospital laboratory with National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) 15189 accreditation and International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) 9001:2000 certification requirements.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical and post-analytical clinical laboratory tasks.
- Demonstrated initiative, highly developed communication skills, and a commitment to personal and organisational excellence.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or ability to rapidly acquire high level skills, in the use of AUSLAB and ieMR.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
- Ability to work additional shifts to support planned and unplanned leave within the team.
