Job Summary:
The Business Continuity Adviser will play a vital role in ensuring the department maintains its critical functions during business disruptions. You will work within the Business Continuity Team to manage business continuity programs, provide support during crises, and maintain strong relationships across the organisation and with whole-of-government crisis management teams. This role also involves managing a team member and contributing to the continuous improvement of business continuity processes.
Key Duties:
- Ensure compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, and relevant business continuity standards and guidelines.
- Implement and manage the department's annual business continuity program, ensuring it supports critical departmental functions.
- Respond to business disruption events and oversee the department's response to minimise disruption.
- Coordinate and support whole-of-government business continuity arrangements under the Australian Government Crisis Management Framework.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments.
- Communicate business continuity policies and procedures through briefings, emails, and intranet updates.
- Participate in team, branch, and divisional meetings, providing input on business continuity matters.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the section.
- Manage and develop a team member to ensure a high standard of performance and outcomes.
To be Successful, You Will Have:
- Proven experience in business continuity, particularly in a government or large corporate environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and geographically dispersed environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to plan and execute activities independently, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
- Capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively, showing initiative and sound judgement.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with experience addressing complex issues in consultation with managers.
