Societie Group is a hospitality and commercial venue operator in Australia, managing locations such as Ramsgate RSL, Club Engadine, The Arbour Heathcote and Fingal Bay Sports Club. We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team at Societie Group.

About the Role:

As an Accountant you will be reporting to our Chief Financial Officer as part of the Finance team. This role integrates back-of-house accounting expertise with a strategic focus on gaming revenue, financial compliance, and operational efficiency. The position is responsible for maintaining financial integrity and plays a key part in safeguarding the club’s financial position through the implementation of robust internal controls, audits, and risk management practices.

This role will involve the following duties but not limited to:

• Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies for the club, ensuring alignment with financial targets and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements for presentation to the board of directors, and management, providing detailed reports and expert financial insights to support informed decision-making.
• General Ledger maintenance and reconciliation
• Payroll monitoring/processing
• Accounts payable process
• Maintain and reconcile bank accounts
• Liaise with external accountants in relation to fixed assets
• Cost and Revenue Analysis
• Management reporting
• Audit requirements and adherence
• Assist in the preparation of daily cash flow reports, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all gaming-related cash movements.
• Assist with ensuring that gaming operations, particularly EGM activities, comply with the current legislative and regulatory requirements, such as Clubs NSW Code of Practice, Gaming Plans of Management, and AML/CTF laws.
• Provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans, and operations, particularly related to gaming revenue and tax obligations.
• Assist in the preparation of taxation returns for the club and individual members, ensuring compliance with local and national tax regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring the accurate reconciliation of Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) figures,
• Assist, Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard gaming revenue and financial assets, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

About the applicant:

• Degree qualified (majoring in Accounting or Finance)
• At least one year of experience in the field (preferable)
• Strong background in accounting and finance, with a focus on gaming operations and Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Proven experience in an accounting role in a Registered Club environment
• Experience working with external auditors and preparation of documents
• Experience in gaming reconciliation and reporting
• Familiarity with Australian tax laws, including GST, PAYG, BAS, Gaming machine tax, payroll tax and corporate tax compliance
• Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and preparation of financial statements for various stakeholders.

Salary: AUD 73,200 per year, plus superannuation, five weeks of annual leave
