About the role:
Join the dynamic team at Council and take on a key role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles and machinery. From light trucks to heavy earthmoving equipment, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our operations running smoothly. This position invites you to apply and grow your technical expertise as you dive deep into the complex relationship between mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic subsystems. You'll be interpreting electronic and hydraulic schematics, diagnosing issues, and ensuring accurate plant records are maintained. Your problem-solving skills will be key in ensuring our fleet and equipment stay in top condition, keeping everything running smoothly and efficiently.

We are seeking:
- A trade qualification in Automotive Mechanics (Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Plant Mechanics, or a similar accredited qualification).
- At least four years of practical experience in workshop operations, including your apprenticeship.
- A current Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence to operate various equipment.
- Strong reading and writing skills to interpret job instructions, maintenance manuals, and complete reports.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, apprentices, and plant operators.
- A solid understanding of safe work practices and procedures.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit, client-focused team.
- A basic familiarity with Fleet Management Software, CPU, and EMS systems.

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
