About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at Australian Skills Group. As a full-time Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the company's financial records, preparing accurate financial reports, and supporting the broader finance and accounting functions. This position is based in our Brendale, Queensland office.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements (General and Special Purpose)
  • Ensure accurate recording and timely reconciliation of all financial transactions
  • Preparation and reporting of BAS and other tax obligations
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to provide financial information and tax planning advice
  • Contribute to the implementation of accounting policies and procedures to maintain financial compliance
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform other ad-hoc accounting and finance-related tasks as required

What we're looking for

  • Registered Charted Accountant
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial accounting role, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and financial reporting requirements including the preparation of Special Purpose Financial Statements
  • Ability to provide strategic tax planning advice
  • Proficient in the use of Xero accounting software
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
