About the business:
Noosa Boathouse is an iconic 3 level bistro, bar & events destination on the Noosa River. Along with a fast paced 120 seat lunch & dinner restaurant, we also have a large wedding & function space with full commercial kitchen, fish & chips takeaway, a sunset bar and coffee bar.
Executive Chef Shane Bailey has a passion for locally harvested produce and our modern Australian menu also has a slight Asian influence and includes local, seasonal produce, fresh seafood and quality Queensland Beef.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Chef to work mainly in our functions kitchen, who will be preparing and executing food for functions of over 100 people, both sit down and cocktail style. You will be comfortable working under pressure and can multi-task with at times multiple functions operating at once.
In addition, we may also have weekday hours for a prep chef who will prepare bulk food for our restaurant and functions including but not limited to sauces, proteins, vegetables, desserts, canapes.
We have availability to be flexible with either full time or part time hours available for the right candidate.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a similar fast paced kitchen
- Experience working with high quality food
- Chef trade qualifications
- Experience in both functions and a high volume kitchen
- Efficient in bulk food preparation techniques and good knowledge of kitchen set up
- Ability to work well in a team environment with great communication skills
- Maintain excellent hygiene & food handling standards
Job Responsibilities
- Food production in accordance with production requirements, ensuring correct methods of cooking and presentation, consistency in product and quality to achieve a high level of guest satisfaction
- Assisting exec and sous chef with estimating food and labour costs, and daily food orders
- Collaborate with function service team to ensure a smooth and high standard of food is delivered on time
- Handle all food and beverage items and maintain all food storage, preparation and service areas in accordance with Australian Food Safety and Hygiene Standards
- Demonstrating correct cooking and kitchen techniques for preparing and storing foods including sous vide, grilling, deep frying, cryovacing, freezing and preserving foods
