Are you a tech-savvy systems thinker who wants to shape the future of education?

Do you thrive on optimising digital systems, structuring learning content, and automating processes? Are you ready to build and scale a digital learning ecosystem that empowers young people?

At IDEAcademy, we’re pioneering a new model of education—one that mirrors the modern workplace and equips young people with real-world skills.

In this role, you'll start by building and optimising our Microsoft 365 for Education environment, developing content, designing system architecture across the organisation, and supporting on-the-ground IT needs (alongside a student intern). As IDEAcademy grows, this position has the potential to evolve into a CTO role, leading the expansion of our online learning platform.

Who Are We?

IDEAcademy is a Perth-based education startup revolutionising education for 15-18-year-olds. Our co-learning hubs in Perth CBD provide a full-time alternative to traditional high school, where students gain vocational credentials, future-ready skills, and real-world learning experiences.

We operate in partnership with NUA Learn (RTO Code: 46284), our Registered Training Organisation, embedding industry-relevant learning into our programs. As we expand into online delivery, we need a digital specialist who can build our tech infrastructure while thinking strategically about scaling and automation.

Are You Our Next Unicorn?

You’re a unicorn because you’re not just a tech expert—you’re a visionary problem-solver. You understand learning ecosystems, automation, and integrations. You see how Microsoft 365, learning management systems, and CRMs can work together to create seamless learning experiences.

Your Role

This role is a blend of hands-on content development in Microsoft 365 for Education and strategic system integration, with the potential to grow into a leadership role as we scale.

As Digital Learning & Systems Lead, you will:

  • Manage permissions & security settings to ensure proper access control
  • Support staff in structuring digital learning content effectively
  • Integrate systems – connecting Microsoft 365, Axcelerate (LMS), and Pipedrive (CRM) and making recommendations for systems improvement
  • Automate workflows – reducing manual tasks across the organisation
  • Lay the foundation for online delivery, ensuring our tech stack is scalable
  • (Future Growth) Lead tech strategy & automation as our education model scales online
Eligibility & Requirements
  • Relevant experience in digital systems, IT, or learning technology (formal qualifications preferred but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for Education (or ability to quickly upskill)
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Ability to obtain a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) Right to work in Australia
Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following selection criteria in their cover letter (or provide a short statement for each):

  1. Technical Proficiency – Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 for Education (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and ability to build and manage digital learning environments.
  2. Systems Thinking – Ability to design, integrate, and optimise digital platforms for efficiency, security, and usability.
  3. Security & Compliance – Understanding of user permissions, data security, and compliance in an educational setting.
  4. Process Automation & Efficiency – Experience in streamlining workflows, automating tasks, or implementing AI-powered tools.
  5. Collaboration & Communication – Ability to work with staff, support non-technical users, and align digital tools with educational goals.
  6. Adaptability & Initiative – Proven ability to work independently in a startup environment, solve problems, and pivot as technology needs evolve.
  7. Desirable (Bonus Skills) – Experience with Axcelerate (LMS), Pipedrive (CRM), AI tools, or cloud-based education platforms.
Why Work With Us?
  • Career Growth – This role has the potential to evolve into a CTO position
  • Work Flexibility – Hybrid or remote options available
  • Mission-Driven Work – Be part of a team redefining education
  • Professional Development – Lifelong learning is part of our DNA Supportive
