The Opportunity

With a workforce of 100 employees, primarily made up of trade and factory positions, we are on a journey of empowering our workforce to manage their physical health and strengthen our safety culture through process improvement, education and collaboration.

Working within the support of the HR Manager and team, we are looking for someone to provide great customer service with proactive care and facilitation of our Injury Management processes and coordination of safety activities. This role will be spread flexibly over 3-4 days per week, working a total of 16 hours per week.

As our Factory runs on a 24-hour basis Monday to Friday, we require someone with flexibility to be present across all shifts where required, for activities such as Toolbox Meetings, incident investigations and workplace inspections.

Your key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration of workers compensation and injury management documentation
  • Liaise with relevant external stakeholders in relation to the coordination of an employee’s injury or illness,
  • Strong facilitation of outcomes and deliverables of all parties associated in the injury management process; through ongoing review and critical assessment of cases and care plans, to timely responses from insurers.
  • Assist ongoing review of WHS policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Prepare reports, records, statistics and other documentation to ensure the provision and maintenance of necessary information and record systems
  • Facilitate investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed by the relevant departments, contributing to solutions that achieve a balance of business practicalities and legislative compliance.
  • Conduct periodic workplace inspections and risk assessments as directed.
  • Attendance of WHS committee meetings and contribution to continuous improvement
  • Stay informed of legislative changes and best practices in WHS and Injury Management.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is currently studying towards or completed formal certification or degree-qualifications in Work Health and Safety and/or experience in a return-to-work role. Other skills and attributes for success include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A proactive, professional with strong interpersonal skills; able to manage delicate or difficult conversations
  • Customer-focused approach; able to work with a broad range of people from varying backgrounds.
  • A positive, solution-focused attitude
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Outcomes-focused, balancing legislative compliance with ‘reasonably practicable’
