Lead Groundsperson/Facility Manager

St John’s College Nambour is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Groundsperson/Facility Manager to oversee the maintenance, upkeep, and development of our school grounds and facilities. This is a physical role that requires hands-on work, leadership, and a passion for maintaining a safe, functional, and visually appealing school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the grounds team, effectively prioritising tasks and delegating work.
  • Physical labour including mowing, spraying, blowing, and other general groundskeeping tasks.
  • Maintenance and preparation of sports fields and school grounds to a high standard.
  • Minor landscaping and general gardening work.
  • Routine trade and non-trade maintenance and repairs.
  • Facility set-up and assistance for college events and activities.
  • Managing and liaising with onsite contractors and tradespeople.
  • Working alongside the Business Manager to maintain the grounds maintenance schedule.
  • Inventory management for supplies and materials.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.

About You:

We are looking for a dedicated individual with:

  • Previous experience in a groundskeeping or facility management role, ideally within a school setting (desirable but not mandatory).
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience or willingness to develop horticultural skills.
  • Knowledge of plants, chemicals, and pest management.
  • An eye for detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • A commitment to safety and adherence to WHS requirements.
  • The ability to contribute positively to the school community and be an integral member of the college staff.
