The Crooked Carrot is a family owned Café in Myalup Western Australia, situated on Forrest Highway, 1.5 hours south of Perth, at the gateway to the Southwest region. Our Café & pristine grounds/playground has quickly become a well-known destination in the region. The Café is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.

About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced and creative Pastry Cook, with a passion for all things sweet to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis.

The Pastry Cook will work alongside our Senior Pastry Cook and pastry staff in our busy commercial kitchen while delivering divine pastries for our confectionery display, scheduled events and special requests.

Your tasks & responsibilities will include:

• Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
• Demonstrating skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies and sweets. Creating enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Pastry section, including filling the cake cabinet and biscuits, monitoring stock levels of the Café’s top selling sweet products and attending to daily cleaning and organisation of the Pastry section.
• Monitoring equipment to ensure all specialised pastry baking tools are in working order
• Working with an established dynamic pastry team and also individually.
• Comply with industry policies and regulations, including Food Standards, Local Government and Department of Health regulations.

About You

• 2 or more years of experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, Caterer, Cake Decorator or similar.
• Creative ability in designing, decorating and filling pastries & desserts.
• Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
• Flexible working hours with availability to work every second weekend.
• Eye for detail and presentation, in a fast paced environment.
• Organised with a passion for all things sweet.

Remuneration will be negotiable based on the successful candidate’s experience. There is potential for this position to be on a part-time or casual basis.
