Job Description
The Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. The successful candidate will be expected to make independent and original contributions to research which have significant impact on the field of expertise.
This position offers a unique opportunity for a practicing public health physician to develop an interest and gain skills in medical education. The role forms part of an academic team that oversees the learning and assessment of medical students in general practice settings and contributes to delivery of relevant aspects of the curriculum in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which encompasses public health, epidemiology, evidence-based medicine and Primary Health Care.
This position aims to ensure and verify that students in the MD acquire the understanding and skills related to the specialty of Public Health required of an Australian medical graduate. It also contributes to curriculum development, delivery and assessment relevant to their area of expertise.
This is a part-time (50% FTE) continuing position based at the Gold Coast location. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $135,319 - $156,035 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $158,323 - $182,561 per annum.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, applicants will possess:
- A medical degree from a recognised educational institution that is Ahpra registrable.
- A master’s level qualification in public health medicine (e.g. MPH) and/or a PhD (or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD) in public health or community medicine.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching in a medical or public health program.
- Ahpra registration and current or recent practice as a public health physician in an Australian health service is highly desirable.
Experience in leading and managing courses and assessment within a medical program is also desirable.
