About this Role
Be part of a high performing Planning Services team in one of the most unique and diverse regions of Victoria. The team plays a significant part in delivering on Latrobe City Council's objectives of maintaining and enhancing our natural environment; ensuring good urban design outcomes for our built environment; and supporting job creation and industry diversification, enabling economic growth within the municipality.
Your role will contribute to making Latrobe City one of the most liveable and competitive regions in Australia.
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will help you engage and influence a range of professionals and community stakeholders, whilst mentoring junior staff and providing excellent internal and external customer service.
A sound understanding of the Planning Policy Framework in Victoria, the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Subdivision Act 1988 and precedents of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal is essential.
To be considered for this role you will hold a relevant tertiary degree with several years' experience or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
About You
We're seeking a highly motivated individual who is passionate about planning and has proven experience in the statutory planning field.
You'll also need:
- Proven experience in the management of a range of statutory planning projects particularly within a large public and/or private organisation.
- Expertise in managing a wide range of planning application types including multi lot subdivisions, commercial, industrial, residential, mixed use and agricultural proposals.
- Experience managing politically sensitive planning permit applications, requiring public consultation and negotiation.
- Skills in presenting planning applications to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
- Proven ability to effectively manage time to ensure the delivery of an efficient and accurate planning service, mindful of relevant statutory timeframes.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to achieve positive outcomes for the Latrobe Valley community.
- A sound understanding of the Victorian Planning Policy Framework, Planning and Environment Act and the Subdivision Act.
- Excellent customer service skills.
