Transport Refrigeration Services (TRS) is looking for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead our fleet service department and drive its success. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in fleet maintenance and workshop management who is ready to take the department to the next level.
In this role, you’ll oversee a skilled team of heavy vehicle mechanics and apprentices, supported by the Fleet Supervisor. You’ll be working closely with internal stakeholders, departmental managers, and service admin to ensure smooth operations and excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the fleet workshop team, ensuring all maintenance and repair services meet the highest standards.
- Oversee the daily operations of the fleet service department, ensuring efficient workflows and timely completion of tasks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and departmental managers to coordinate and optimise fleet maintenance schedules and resources.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company policies in all workshop activities.
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of heavy vehicle mechanics and apprentices to ensure continuous improvement and skill development.
- Take responsibility for meeting or exceeding service delivery targets and KPIs.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to team members, resolving complex mechanical issues and ensuring quality control.
- Manage workshop administration, including job allocation, parts ordering, and reporting.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, liaising with clients and other departments to ensure satisfaction.
The Criteria
- Significant experience in a heavy vehicle mechanic role, with at least 2 years in a similar management or supervisory position.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team of skilled mechanics and apprentices.
- In-depth knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
- Experience with workshop management and fleet maintenance systems.
- A proactive and hands-on approach, with a strong problem-solving ability.
- A commitment to safety and best practices in fleet service operations.
