About the role
This position will oversee asset management processing and reporting, providing support to the Finance team. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely processing, financial tasks, and meeting internal customer needs while adhering to reporting requirements.
Skills & experience
Essential Experience
- Prior experience in a similar role within finance or similar field.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to liaise and build networks with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management with a demonstrated ability to deliver on time in a deadline driven environment.
- Proven ability in Microsoft Office and computerised Financial Information Systems.
- Aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable Experience:
- Qualifications or relevant experience in Accounting or related field.
- Previous Local Government experience.
- Experience using Synergy Soft.
Duties & responsibilities
Asset Management
- Identify capital and operational costs for correct journal entries.
- Close capital projects and assign costs by asset category.
- Create assets, process acquisitions/disposals, and set up categories and depreciation.
- Ensure proper documentation for all asset transactions.
- Assist with asset revaluations as required by legislation.
- Work with Infrastructure team for accurate asset costings.
- Review general ledger and transactions with Project Managers.
- Assist with asset value reporting to insurance brokers.
Finance
- Provide support to the finance team, including journal processing and data investigation.
- Assist Revenue and Treasury officers when needed.
- Lead process improvement projects.
- Resolve outstanding account balances in a timely manner.
- Perform month-end duties like reconciliations and journals.
- Assist with general monthly reporting.
General
- Maintain high customer service standards for internal and external inquiries.
- Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations.
- Uphold organizational values of Unity, Quality, and Integrity.
- Ensure corporate documents are recorded per the organization's plan.
- Perform other duties as needed based on skills and abilities.
