The West Australian Marathon Club was founded in 1970 to bring together West Aussies who love to run. Since then, we've grown to become Australia's largest running club, now with over 1,000 members aged from four to over eighty. Every year, we organise a calendar of events for our members. Some are major fundraising races, others just for exercise and fun. Those races have various distances from Kids Dash all the way up to Marathon.

About the Role
We are looking for a part-time Accounts Officer working 2 days per week (5-hour days). Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Officer will be responsible for the financial accounting and budgeting of the financial activities related to The West Australian Marathon Club. The Accounts Office responsibilities will also include completing the monthly accounting, fortnightly preparation of payroll, ad-hoc preparation of Purchase Orders and completing budgets and comparing them with actuals on a race-to-race basis.
Key Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with Managers & Executives and Committee members to accurately prepare, monitor and maintain race budgets
- Preparation and posting of all required journal entries including race income via export from online portal
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and credit card
- Accurate and timely calculation of monthly BAS compliance obligations including Payroll tax
- Preparation of ad-hoc purchase orders and weekly payment runs for accounts payable
- Oversight and management of end-to-end payroll function that includes fortnightly permanent and casual payroll and superannuation
- Oversight of Accounts emails and answering queries in timely manner

Remuneration
The West Australian Marathon Club will offer a pro-rata $70,000 - $80,000 salary plus superannuation dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.
Experience, Skills and Attributes
- Degree Qualified – Commerce, Business or Accounting
- CA/CPA qualification preferred but not required
- 2+ years’ experience in sport or event environment
- Knowledge and experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting system, and MS Word
- Knowledge and experience of payroll and BAS
- In depth technical knowledge of (and ability to source) Australian Accounting Standards, Corporations Act regulations and FBT/GST/WorkSafe
- Extensive use of Microsoft Office and in particular hold intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
