GPS Development Finance Pty Ltd is a long-established private lender, providing finance for the construction and development of residential unit and townhouse projects in south east Queensland. We are a Brisbane City based business, currently looking for an Experienced Portfolio Development Manager to join our team, and to grow into a managerial position. A understanding of the residential unit and townhouse construction process is required.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Lead the origination, due diligence and management of deals to build a book of repeat clients and a stable loan pipeline.
- Structuring a variety of loans to produce a suitable outcome for both the borrower and GPS and then presenting that to the Credit Department and management for approval.
- Assessing the construction and development risks in transactions and establishing and implementing a plan to manage identified risks.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the loan including regular site inspections, identifying and actioning any potential issues and monitoring loan repayment while keeping the interest of GPS investors at the forefront.
- Assessing and approving drawdowns for construction loan facilities, including analysis of Quantity Surveyor progress reports and initial reports.
- Providing support & advice to the Lending Team to add value to construction funded transactions where applicable.
- Represent GPS in the property development industry, networking with key stakeholders to advance the GPS brand, knowledge and experience.
- Ideally you will be looking to grow into a leadership position, providing oversight and leadership with time.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Sound technical knowledge and experience:
- Currently or previously employed as Portfolio Manager (or similar) within a Financial Institution or Private Financier.
- Proven experience originating deals and maintaining long term client relationships.
- Written planning advice, correspondence, knowledge of strategic and statutory documents and liaising with developers.
- Ability to employ sound judgment and commercial decision making.
A high collaborative attitude and strong communication skills:
- You are personable and enjoy learning from and partnering with others, taking direction or providing it and integrate seamlessly into multi-disciplinary team.
Strong business acumen:
- You have an understanding of the property development industry in south east Queensland and recogise our clients’ business challenges and can identify ‘value add’ opportunities.
- Onsite Inspections, monitor build progress and compliance with approvals.
Excellent time management skills:
- You are very organised, understand the value of time and can prioritise and manage projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- At all times maintain a positive and professional approach to all aspects of the role and internal/external stakeholders.
Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree qualified.
- Experience running teams or seeking the ability to prove yourself in a managerial position over time.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written along with solid interpersonal skills.
- Financial Analysis (basic).
- Construction projects methodologies and analysis
- Strong understanding of the south east Queensland property market
- Strong computer skills including Excel and project cashflow analysis.
- Respond positively to change and the challenges and opportunities is presents.
