Gallus Partners Management (GPM) is a small and dynamic growing business, part of the Gallus Partners group of companies. GPM has four main business pillars: Advisory, Projects, Real Estate and Investment.
Our Projects team provides both Development and Project Management services to a select group of clients across a broad range of sectors including urban renewal, residential development, aged care, retirement, hotels & leisure, and sport. GPM has a current Development Manager opportunity to join the existing team and work on existing and new projects. Development Managers work as part of the overall project team and support the Project Director.
Competencies and skills (role related):
- Knowledge of a development manager’s responsibilities – includes an understanding of the role as well as legal, ethical, fiduciary, and financial responsibilities involved.
- Business Development – a Development Manager must be able to assist in the generation of new revenue opportunities in addition to fulfilling duties on existing (major) Project assignments.
- Accounting and finance – the ability to read and comprehend clients’ financial reports, financial reporting requirements and some understanding of corporate finance.
- Legal – some understanding of Corporation’s and contract law, and an ability to research and understand the legislative and other regulative environment that GPM’s clients and partners are subject to.
- Risk Management and Treatment – experience in identifying and managing major risks of the business and that of our clients.
- Design Management – Competency in coordinating the Design Process, Appointment of Consultant Teams, Design and Procurement Program’s, Risk Workshops, Schedules of Authority conditions and responsibilities, Key Deliverables, monthly Consultant Claims, Quality Assurance, Completion and Post-Completion.
- Developments – Developing experience and skill in Business and Industry Knowledge, Commercial and Strategic Acumen (as it relates to property development), Financial Acumen, Regulations and Authority Regimes, Design Cost and Planning.
- Planning and Programming – Competency in identifying and managing Constraints, Cost Management, Design, Monitoring and Review, Preparation (Microsoft Project), Procurement and Material Management.
- Quality Management – Developing competency in technical knowledge of BCA/NCC standards and appropriate strategies to manage technical design issues, Construction Verification and Monitoring, Defects Management, and the Project Completion Process.
- Applications – Competency in Office 365 Applications (Word, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Advanced competency in developing dynamic Excel models.

- Collegiality – a Development Manager is expected to share their insight with the GPM team working for the sole purpose of growing and maintaining the business.
- Collaborative, curious and courageous – a Development Manager must be able to function as an effective team member and must also have the curiosity to ask questions, and the courage to persist in robust and respectful discussions.
- Emotional intelligence – one of the most critical personal attributes, as well as self-awareness and self-management, a Development Manager must work well in a group, listen well, be tactful and yet be able to communicate a cogent and candid viewpoint.
- Commercial judgment and instinct – a Development Manager always needs to demonstrate good business instinct and acumen and be able to assimilate and synthesise complex information.
- Active contribution – a Development Manager needs to be an active contributor with genuine interest in the business.
Educational requirements:
A tertiary qualification in either Business, Accounting, Law, Economic, Property Economics, Mathematics, Arts majoring in Logic, Economics, or other accepted discipline.
Experience:
A minimum of six years property development or property finance related experience is required.
