About the role
The Lived Experience Carer Support Worker in the Access Mental Health Service plays a vital role in providing support, guidance and empathy to families/carers of those seeking care. Through the use of their lived experience a Lived Experience Carer Support Worker brings a unique perspective and understanding to their interactions with the families/carers and the Access team. This positon aims to enhance the quality of care and overall consumer experience by fostering a compassionate and person centred approach. The role will be based with the Access team at the Forest Hill site and will be required to work across the Emergency Departments at Eastern Health and outreach services.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess
- Lived experience as a carer of a person who has been a consumer of public mental health services
- Demonstrated understanding and empathy of the broad impact of mental illness on consumers and carers/families and of the evidence base for inclusive, family sensitive and recovery oriented practice.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
