This is a permanent, full-time position and can be performed from any of our RoadTek office locations (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Warwick, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast or Brisbane CBD).

This role is an identified role under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

The primary focus of this role is to advocate for, mentor, facilitate and support the learning and development, retention, and career progression of our First Nations
workers in RoadTek. This is a key aspect of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. The other key focus is mentoring, facilitating and supporting the learning, development and retention of other RoadTek entry pathway participants.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Proven ability to contribute to the development and co-ordination of a tailored mentoring program to establish strong relationships with RoadTek workers by using your cultural expertise, community connections and leadership skills within the civil construction industry.
• A clear understanding of First Nations culture, protocols, and relevant legislation and codes of practice, with the ability to effectively work with and support First Nations workers from varying communities and work roles, including plant operators, project managers, and contractors within the civil construction industry.
• Demonstrated communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to assist with working through issues with management and workers.
• Contribute to providing education, training and support to supervisors and workers about the appropriate communication style, cultural needs, and the
importance of establishing rapport with First Nations workers, utilising a culturally appropriate framework.
• Report on the outcomes and measures towards the attraction of First Nation workers, the progression and retention of entry pathway participants, including specific challenges and recognise successes.
• Contribute to the identification, development and implementation of workforce capability development initiatives, including but not limited to, entry pathways retention and attraction, and diversity and inclusion strategies.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• Valid Queensland ‘C' class drivers licence or equivalent.
• You will have knowledge of First Nations cultures and societies from a historical and contemporary perspective. You will also recognise and articulate the interests of First Nations peoples and be able to consult in accordance with cultural protocols where required.
