About the Role:

Are you an experienced NPD leader with a passion for creating innovative food products? Our client (located in South Melbourne) is exclusively partnering with mfg Talent to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Product Development Manager to lead the development of exceptional products that exceed customer expectations. You will play a pivotal role in driving the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects within a dynamic and growing company, with an excellent brand in the Australian market.

This is an onsite role - whilst there will be flexibility we are seeking someone that is able to committ to 5 days a week onsite at their large scale manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage product development plans, assessing output requirements and managing technical aspects of innovative projects.
• Lead the creation of new products, flavours and inclusions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, marketing, etc.) to ensure seamless product development and launch.
• Conduct market research to identify customer needs and trends.
• Manage and mentor Product Development Specialist.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Continuously improve processes for cost optimisation and waste reduction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Skills & Experience:

• Food Science Degree or related discipline.
• Experience working as a Product Development Manager or in a senior NPD role.
• Proven experience working with muesli products, bars, or similar product ranges.
• Exceptional customer engagement and presentation experience.
• Strong project management skills, knowledge of Stage & Gate processes
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Self-driven and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong innovation skills and a capacity for creative thinking.
